January 5, 2009 - This image was captured during a photo-walk around the Clifton, OH area near the University of Cincinnati. Thankfully, Rotte was nowhere to be found during the taking of the picture! The photo was captured with a Nikon D70 and 50mm lens with an aperture of f/2.8 and a shutter speed of 1/1000.

January 4, 2009 - Well, today was a really cruddy day outside in Cincinnati, so I had to use my imagination and setup an indoor shot. This morning at our church service my family and I each received a stone with an inscription on it that identifies a spiritual gift that God has placed in our heart for 2009. I thought this image might be a good reminder for me throughout the year.
To setup the shot, I arranged the stones on tile floor, setup a spotlight and placed a white reflector behind the stones to lighten up the shadows. Shot on Joby Gorillapod tripod with Nikon D300 and 18-200mm VR lens.

January 3, 2009 - Afternoon photo of one of Cincinnati's landmark buildings, Union Terminal. With beginnings 75 years ago as a passenger railroad terminal, it has become an Art Deco landmark and award-winning museum. Taken hand-held with Nikon D300 and 18-200mm VR lens.

January 2, 2009 - My daughter Lily poses at the Cincinnati Zoo's Festival of Lights. This shot was taken hand-held using a Nikon D70 & 50mm f1.8 lens with ISO set to 1250 which added a higher level of noise to the photo. A small amount of post-processing was used to correct colors and increase detail in shadows.

Happy New Year! Welcome to 2K9... can you believe it! One of my goals for the new year is to be more active on this blog and to get a whole lot more great web design, photography & social media content out there to you.
The last quarter of 2008, also saw J MAN STUDIOS develop quite a following on the Twitter social media network, ending the year with approximately 350 followers from all over the world. Special thanks to all of my current twitter friends and followers for helping me to embrace this new technology, enriching me with awesome tips & resources, and welcoming me into your lives... it's been a blast! And I'm sure the best is yet to come! If you would like to follow me on twitter you can do so here: http://twitter.com/jmanstudios.
I have also started a new project that will last the entire year called Project 365 where the goal is to take a new picture every day of the year. I'm hoping that it will help me to grow as a photographer and challenge me to step outside the box into areas that I might not ever have tried. I will be uploading photos to galleries on Flickr, and SmugMug as well as to this blog so if you'd like to follow along be sure to set a bookmark or add this link to your rss feed. Here is my first photo of the project that was posted yesterday titled "New Year's Angel".
Wishing you the best of luck, good health and prosperity in the new year!
