15/365 - The Lone Pine Cone

January 15, 2009 - Today the weather went from cold to bitter cold (like much of the midwest and east coast) but I ventured out into the frigid tundra in hopes of finding something of nature that I could use as a subject. Low and behold I found a lone pine cone which I was able to position on a snowy walkway to maximize depth of field. I wanted an image that brought attention to the subject yet still gave a sense of the cold.
Shot hand-held with Nikon D70 and Nikkor 50mm 1:8 lens at f/1.8 and a shutter speed of 1/100 sec and ISO of 800.
